how big of a power inverter can i hook up to my homemade dc alternator generator to make it an ac Generator?

i built a homemade Generator from a Lawn Tractor and an alternator and right now im using it to charge battery’s. but my goal for building it was to hook up a power inverter that would then make it an ac generator and i could use it to run ac devices…any help i would apreciate it…oh and the alternator is of from a franklin 105 cable skidder if that helps any and i dont know for sure what amps it pumps out

I did the same thing from a 5.5 briggs engine last week!
its hard to say without know the output of the alternator because the output, 120 150 amps…whatever, time the voltage, 14.2, if you have internal voltage regulator, will tell you haw many watts it can handle without overheating too bad. the power inverter has it own tag on it that will tell you what the required amps will be to have it work properly. also it has its own transformers built in and steps up voltage after inverting it.
I hooked up a 5.5 briggs to a 65 amp alternator and a 5000 watt inverter, both of which i designed, wound, and built myself and it works great. good ratio pulleys between engine and alternator. alternator spins around 2800 rpm with engine at about 3100. so before you by and inverter read how much power each requires. most that are available in store are 20 amps or less or they would blow fuses in your car. but there are larger ones available, depending on how much power you need.
I dont use batteries. alternator and inverter are hardwired together and it has constant power supply as long as the engine is running.
